Remembering one of us….Dr Rahmat Awang

It is with great sadness that we wish to inform friends and colleagues in APAMT the passing of Dr Rahmat Awang on 22 October 2024. He had just turned 67 the month before.

Rahmat was responsible for ‘introducing’ APAMT to the Malaysia National Poison Centre in 2001 when he was ‘encouraged’ by Professor Medhi Balali-Mood, the then President of APAMT, and Dr Jou-Fang Deng to organise and host the 3rd APAMT Scientific Congress in Penang. This year’s congress marks its fourth appearance in Malaysia, all organized by the National Poison Centre.

Rahmat’s passing leaves us not only with a deep sense of loss but also immense gratitude for his leadership at the Malaysia National Poison Centre which he helmed from 2000 – 2007. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, inspiration, and kindness.

Dr Rahmat Awang will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He will live on in our hearts and in the lives of all those he has touched.

• What is your refund policy for congress registrations?

  Our refund policy for congress registrations is as follows:

  1. Cancellations received before 15 September 2024 are eligible for an 80% refund of the registration fees paid, less a 20% processing fee.
  2. Cancellations received between 16 September to 18 October 2024 are eligible for a 50% refund of the registration fees paid.
  3. Cancellations received between 19 October 2024 to the conference start date are not eligible for a refund.

• Can I transfer my registration to another person if I can't attend?

  Yes, if you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person by contacting the conference secretariat in writing prior to the start of the conference.  There may be a small transfer fee depending on the timing of the transfer request.
